The athlete and the producer, behind HRB.

HRB is led by two complementary roles: Tia Posner, the athlete and psychology-led founder, and Dan Barnes, the producer who understands how to develop talent in horses and riders. Together, they create a yard built around structure, welfare, trust and long-term performance.

Founders · Tia & Dan

The athlete. The producer. The standard.

HRB is built around two complementary strengths. Tia brings the athlete profile, founder energy and psychology-led performance approach that gives HRB its voice, standards and commercial trust. Dan brings the production depth, practical horse knowledge and ability to develop talent in both horses and riders.

Together, they create a system where horses are produced with care, riders are coached with clarity, and owners can trust the process behind the performance. That same standard carries through to showjumping horse production, the HRB horses, coaching, livery and the wider yard environment.

Dan Barnes

Producer · Horseman · Rider Development

Dan brings the production depth behind HRB. His strength lies in understanding how horses develop over time: how they learn, how they gain confidence, how they respond to pressure, and how to bring out talent without rushing the process.

His background in young horse production, showjumping and professional competition gives HRB a serious foundation in the practical work of developing horses properly. Dan’s role is not just about riding horses. It is about reading them, knowing when to push, when to wait, when to simplify and when a horse is ready for the next step. That same thinking carries into rider development too: confidence, timing, rhythm and feel are built through repetition, not force.

Age 12 Started riding through a local dealer, bought and sold first ponies, and began learning how different horses think, react and develop.
Age 22 Joined Steven Whitaker's yard; produced around 50 young horses over two years, many of which went on to compete at the highest level.
4* Competed up to 4* level, including the Hickstead Speed Derby.
Today Helps shape the HRB production system through flatwork, jumping development, confidence building, competition preparation and honest assessment.

Talent is developed through time, feel and a system the horse can understand.

Dan's Approach

Structured training, developed through feel.

See how Dan works with horses and riders through calm, purposeful training built around rhythm, rideability, confidence and clear progression. The goal is never to rush a result, but to create a system the horse can understand and the rider can repeat.

Tia Posner
Athlete

Tia Posner

Athlete · Founder · Psychology-Led Performance

Tia is the athlete and founder at the centre of HRB Equestrian. Her work is built around the daily reality of the sport: riding, training, managing horses, preparing for competition, supporting riders and holding the standards that shape the whole yard.

What makes Tia’s role different is the way she brings together lived equestrian experience with clinical psychology. She understands the technical side of riding, but also the pressure, confidence, fear, rhythm and decision-making that influence how riders perform when it matters. That makes her a powerful face for HRB and a credible figure for aligned brands, owners and riders who want to be part of a serious performance environment.

Age 2 First sat on a pony. Owned her first pony at seven and progressed from the showing ring into showjumping.
Age 17 Began building her career with horses while continuing her academic path towards clinical psychology.
Age 24 Jumped her first 1.30m classes on Frankie, her trusted Irish Draught, while completing her Clinical Psychology Doctorate.
Today Leads HRB as an athlete, founder and psychology-led coach, bringing performance, welfare and rider mindset into one clear standard.

Performance does not begin in the ring. It is built in the routine.

Tia's Story

Built through horses, psychology and a standard worth protecting.

Tia’s story sits at the heart of HRB. It is shaped by a lifelong relationship with horses, the discipline of competitive riding, and a belief that performance improves when welfare, confidence and structure are treated as one system.
